Here We Go!

This is my first post as a blogger. I have enjoyed the girls blogs and their friends' blogs and we started one for Scottie so why not? I probably won't post as often as my girls, but This may give us some record for the future.

The next couple of months are going to be really busy!

Next Monday, I go to girls camp in Oklahoma (about 4 hours away) with our Stake. It should be fun, the weather is supposed to peak at 95 with lows in the 70's, so I dont think I will even bring a sleeping bag. Just some sheets and a blanket. There are cabins with real beds, so that should be better than trying to balance on a cot. The camp is situated in a small red rock canyon that is kind of pretty. It isn't the High Sierras or Catalina, but it sure beats the heck out of Pederanales which is the camp that the Austin stake went to for several years.

Next Monday, Scott will travel from the MTC to Cincinnati Ohio to begin his actual mission. He has learned some spanish and is excited to get out there. I am hoping I get a signal when he makes his call from the airport, as I will be on my way to OK.

Later this week, Dave will meet with the NTEC, a medical device incubator that is located in Frisco about 10 miles away. They are interested in Ergo nurse and if all goes well, and everyone agrees, they will come together and really get this business off the ground. We are ready. We have some great products and the interest is great among nurses and care providers. There is even some new legislation in several states mandating safe patient handling so the time is right. One of the up-sides of our products are that in addition to decreasing caregiver injuries on the job, the number of bedsores on patients has decreased to zero as well. This is directly related to the fact that it is easy for a single caregiver to move the patients and turn them every two hours like they are supposed to. So we can provide hospitals and care facilities with two great benefits, decreased costs due to injury and bedsores.

In exactly two months, Brent and Janeese will be married! How exciting is that? Janeese is a darling girl and we are excited for the two of them to begin their lives together. Brent is in Boca Raton this summer installing Security Systems for Apex, hoping to put aside a nice little stash to get his new family going.

Meanwhile, Brent is on the Transplant List for his patella osteochondral allograft transplant. He is hoping it comes through a week or two after he is married, but since we have no control over when the tissue will become available we just have to remain ready to jump on the plane to go to Scripps in San Diego where the transplants are performed. They will take him off the list for three weeks before the wedding and a week after, but really, it could happen anytime other than that. After nearly a year long battle with Blue Cross, in which an appeal to the Department of Insurance finally triggered an approval for his surgery (after three denials) We got a package in the mail stating that the Cobra insurance was being taken over by another insurance company.
It makes me mad! through Blue Cross' tactics to deny, delay and contest actually got them out of paying for the operation! It is criminal! We do expect the new insurance to cover it, their policy is much more progressive in the treatment for this type of injury in a young active patient.
We should know in a few weeks, but we are expecting it to fly.

Katie & Matt and Delaney expect the newest member of their family, a little girl to arrive the end of August, we are just hoping she stays put till after the wedding! Delaney, meanwhile, is talking up a storm and says the funniest things. She keeps us in stitches.

Emily and Jared have the sweetest little boy in the whole state of Texas. He is so friendly and cute and is starting to talk and sign what he wants. It is fun to watch his little mind work.

So there you have the update, I will post some photos as I take them.

Have a great week.
